Upper Eyelid Surgery – why its not just a cosmetic procedure

At the Swan Clinic, we are saddened that this procedure may be removed from the MBS in November 2017. This means that patients will no longer be covered by their health funds or subsidised by Medicare.

Who needs upper eyelid surgery?

Patients whose eyelids are sitting on their eyelashes. This means that their ability to see is affected. This can interfere with reading, driving and can cause headaches.

Where is the procedure performed?

In the rooms or in theatre. The procedure takes about 1.5 hours.

What about drooping eyelids and asymmetry?

This can be repaired at the same time.

How is the procedure performed?

Excess tissue is carefully measured and removed. Any bulging fat is also taken out to restore tissues back to where they should belong. This allows sculpting of the tissues around the eyes while adding definition.

What about the scar?

The scar is usually very faint and heals well.

Will I feel pain?

At the Swan Clinic, our priority is to ensure you have a pleasant experience every step of the way. We use gentle methods to ensure you are comfortable through your journey.
