Medical grade chemical peels

What is a medical grade skin peel?

Medical grade skin peels use a high concentration of multiple acids to remove the superficial layers of the skin cells. High concentration Retinol is then placed, which targets the deeper skin layers.  The Swan Clinic uses Medical Grade Skin Peels due to the efficacy and noticeable great looking results. Futhermore these are scientifically proven for their efficacy.

What does a skin peel do?

Skin peel resurface the skin. By removing the top layers, a peel removes any abnormal or senile cells. New cells that grow are healthy. These grow from the hair follicles, sweat glands and the deeper layers of skin that remain. Essentially, our peels resurface the skin.

A peel works to do the following:

  • Tighten skin
  • Lighten pigment
  • Brighten skin
  • Improve fine lines and wrinkles

Medical peels

This Medical peel utilises a high concentration of multiple acids to lift the appearance of pigment and aggressively resurface the skin. Retinol, peptides and antioxidants enhance efficacy and overall results. It targets ageing skin and hyperpigmentation.

This deeper peel has around 5-7 days of downtime with significant erythema (Redness) and peeling. However, the results are more dramatic.

How is the skin peel performed?

After prepping the skin, acid is applied in layers to the skin. A retinol activator is then placed within the deeper layers of the skin to achieve maximal effect. The peel is kept in place and washed off by the patient 4 hours later, at home, to achieve maximal effect.

Why have a peel here at the Swan Clinic?

As our peels are deeper, you need less peels. Therefore, most people need only a course of 1-3 peels. These are spaced every 4-6 week apart. Then, if desired, you only need a top-up peel, once a year.

There is minimal downtime to our peels – have a peel on Wednesday or Thursday. Peel on Saturday or Sunday. No need to take time off work

Gone are the days of having a red face. Before having a peel at the Swan clinic, we require you to prep your skin. Prepping the skin stabilises the skin cells. Prepping needs to be carried out at least 4 weeks prior to having your first peel. Prepping the skin allows the peel to be deeper and allows a more predictable peel.

You will be given a mobile number to contact after hours, so we can help you in the recovery. We will also contact you the next day to follow up your peel and you are welcome to come back for review at the two-week mark and the six-week mark, or earlier as necessary.

You have a choice of two packages

Medical peels

This peel consists of two pre-peel products. These products cost $250, lasting 6- 8 weeks. Please only use one squirt of product at each application.

Age intervention retinol. This needs to be applied at night. Initially every other night, then once your skin becomes accustomed, nightly after 3 nights. It is recommended you wash this product off in the morning as it can cause sensitivity during sun exposure, and to avoid the product running into the eyes after sweating or exercise.

Age intervention peptide. This includes membrane stabilisers. This should be used every morning.

Cosmetic peels

This peel consists of five products in the pre-peel package. The cost of the kit is $440. This package includes the above, and in addition a concentrated vitamin C product (C-Esta) which targets pigmentation and brightens the skin; a cleanser; and a sunscreen. This also lasts 6-8 weeks assuming one squirt of product at each application. The product regimen is as follows:

In the morning

Step 1 – Cleanse with Bioglycolic Face Cleanser.

Step 2 – Apply the C-Esta Face Serum to your clean face using a pea sized amount of the product. You can also apply this to the lower eyelid and neck.

Step 4 – apply the Age Intervention Peptide Extreme to face and neck sparingly to hydrate skin. You can also apply this to upper and lower eyelids.

Step 5 – Apply Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant SPF 33 (sunscreen).

Please be sure to wash your face in the morning, and prior to any exercise, as sweating may cause product to run into the eyes

In the evening

Step 1 – Cleanse as in the morning.

Step 2 – Apply the C-Esta Face Serum to your clean face using a pea sized amount of the product. You can also apply this to the lower eyelid and neck.

Step 3 – Use a small amount of the Age intervention retinol plus. For the first 1-2 weeks, use every 2nd or 3rd night only and slowly increase usage to nightly. If irritation occurs or excess dryness, decrease frequency and re-commence slowly to allow skin time to acclimatise

Use the Age Intervention Peptide Extreme Lotion to hydrate.
